Greenlane Railway Station is on the Southern Line of the Auckland railway network. It has an island platform and is reached via a ramp from Green Lane East.
It is the nearest station to Ellerslie Racecourse and Greenlane Hospital and showgrounds.
Early in the morning of 2 December 2007, the station's derelict goods shed was destroyed by a suspicious fire. Twelve firefighters were required to contain the intense blaze, which at one point threatened local residences but ultimately left just one house with minor damage to its spouting. The shed had been scheduled for demolition, and in its final years had been used by local youths and the homeless.[1][2]
