Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (sometimes capitalized as Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite) (GOSAT) is an Earth observation satellite which will be used to monitor the level of carbon dioxide, a major greenhouse gas, in Earth's atmosphere. The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) will develop, launch and acquire data from the satellite. Japan's Ministry of the Environment, and National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) will use the data to track one of the gases causing the green house effect.
[edit] Launch
GOSAT will be launched using the H-IIA, Japan’s primary large-scale expendable launch system. Launch is scheduled for FY 2008.[1]
