Greenbelt is a Washington Metro station in Prince George's County, Maryland on the Green Line. It is the northeastern end of the Green Line.
The station is located in Greenbelt (near Berwyn Heights, Beltsville, and the northern part of College Park), off of Cherrywood Lane near the Capital Beltway. With a parking lot of over 3,300 spaces,[1] and with quick access to and from the Beltway, it is an ideal commuter station for both locals and people coming from elsewhere -- such as the Beltway or from Baltimore. An express Metrobus service, the B30 route, is also available to Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), allowing a connection to Baltimore transit services. Service began on December 11, 1993. There are tentative plans to extend the Green Line from Greenbelt northward toward Laurel, Fort Meade, and possibly BWI Airport
MARC trains, on the Camden line, stop at Greenbelt on a set of tracks that are parallel to the Metro tracks. The stop has two low-level platforms and is unstaffed.
On the way to Greenbelt station, trains pass Lake Artemesia, which was created as part of the construction of the College Park-U of Md and Greenbelt stations. Sand and gravel excavated from what is now Lake Artemesia were used to construct the track bed and parking facilities at these stations.
