Green Party of Pakistan

The Green Party was founded on April 28 in 2002 and since has been active in local politics. Members of the political party are known as the "Pakistan Greens". It is a member of the Asia-Pacific Green Network. Liaquat Ali heads the legal party.

The ten basic values or policy positions of the GPP are similar to the ten principles of the United States Green Party:
- Grassroots Democracy
- Social Justice and Equal Opportunity
- Ecological Wisdom
- Non-Violence
- Decentralization of Authority from Power to the People
- Community-based Economics and Economic Justice
- Gender Equity
- Respect for Diversity
- Personal and Global Responsibility
- Sustainability
The Pakistan Green party does not support Mr.Musharaf's attempt to overthrow the Supreme Court's top judges and is deeply opposed the emergency declaration in Pakistan. The Pakistan Green party also demands that free and fair elections be held under a new interim government. It does not consider Mr.Musharaf as the legitimate President of country.
