Green Park Society (GPS) is an organization of over 150 Emory University students dedicated to improving blighted parks and recreation areas in Atlanta. The Society was created in Fall 2004 in response to a lack of student-catered community service options. GPS has "adopted" Maddox Park in Atlanta's Bankhead area and Storza Woods in Piedmont Park.
[edit] Activities
Green Park students clean, restore foliage, and build nature trails on weekends. Students are not asked to donate nor are they obligated to attend projects. The Society offers a multitude of dates and a variety of jobs; free food and drinks are provided to participating students. Green Park won the 2005 Joel Gellar Humanitarians Award.
