Green Lake is a large natural tidal lake in southeastern Texas twelve miles southwest of Port Lavaca. It is one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in Texas covering 10,000 acres (40 km²). The lake is very grassy and poorly drained but provides a habitat for many fowl and fish. The nearest community, the rural settlement of Green Lake, uses the lake for fishing and water sports.[1]
