Greek Cup Final

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Greek Cup Final, commonly referred to in Greece as just The Cup Final is the last match in the Greek Cup.

Teams highlighted in bold won both Panhellenic Championship (up to 1959) or Alpha Ethniki (up to 2006) or the Super League Greece (known as the "Super League" from 2006 through 2008) and the Greek Cup in that season; this is known as The Double in Greek football.

5 The semi-final between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos was abandoned at 1-1 in 115th minute and never finished, due to irruption of spectators that believed that the match was fixed. Replay was not carried out, so AEK Athens were the only finalists and they were awarded the Cup by the Greek FA.

6 The final was not carried out, because Olympiacos had to preparate for 1966–67 European Cup.

7 Panathinaikos won the cup in the flip of a coin.

8 This was the first final that held in Thessaloniki, and also the first final in which the two finalists were not Athens' clubs. Aris was also the first cup holders from Thessaloniki.
