Greater Cochin Development Authority

Greater Cochin Development Authority is the government overseeing agency for the development of the Indian port city of Kochi, Kerala. Greater Cochin area consists of the Cochin Corporation, the commercial capital of Kerala, 6 surrounding municipalities and 25 intervening panchayats covering an area of 632 sq.km.[1] This has a population of 2,589,038 (2001 census).[2]. Greater Cochin area is different from the usually referred to the Cochin urban agglomeration. The urban agglomeration comprises Cochin corporation, 11 panchayats and two municipalities with a total population of 1,355,406 (2001 census).
