Great Western Development (pinyin: Xibu da kaifa) is a current campaign in the People's Republic of China, designed to increase the economic situation of the Western Provinces through capital investment and increase use of the area's natural resources. It has been mentioned several times by Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao in appearances throughout the country.
