The Great People's Party (Phak Mahachon) is a political party in Thailand. At the last legislative elections, 6 February 2005, the party won 8.3% of the popular vote and 2 out of 500 seats.
During the by-election in 2005 in Phichit Province district 3, results in an additional seat for the Great People's Party. Siriwat Kachonprasat, son of the Great People's Party's leader Sanan Kachonprasat made another appearance into the parliament. This makes Mahachon Party has 3 out of the 500 seats in the house of representatives.
Former Mahachon Party member Nitiphoom Naowarat later successfully contested the Bangkok Senator elections.
The party has colluded with 2 other main opposition parties to boycott the election in hoping to make it impossible for the new government to form. These elections of April 2006 were declared invalid. New elections will be held October 2006.
