Great Illustrated Classics

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Great Illustrated Classics series offers easy-to-read abridgements of well known classics, featuring large print and numerous illustrations. The series is targeted at children, but the writing style is suitable for adult readers as well. Currently there are 70 titles.

Occasionally, books in the series will steer far away from their source materials. The Great Illustrated Classics version of H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, for instance, has an entire chapter that does not appear in the original novel, substantially changing the ending.

The series is published and owned by Waldman Publishing Corporation (http://www.waldmanbooks.com) under the Baronet Books imprint.

There is a companion series, Heroes of America, consisting of biographies of eight famous Americans.
