Great Houghton Cricket Club places great emphasis on the development of our young players. In 2005 the club had Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 sides playing in the Northampton & District Youth Cricket League, this year we have now added an Under 9s, Under 10s and Under 11s. A large number of our juniors also play in one or more of our adult sides.

[edit] Clubs History

Founded in 1880, the original Cricket Club in Great Houghton ceased playing in the 1930's and was re-formed in 1978 as a Sunday friendly side. In 1981 the Club joined the Northampton Town League and in 1987 entered a 2nd XI into the Town League. In 1989 the Club was accepted into the Northants Cricket League and currently the 1st XI are in Division 4, whilst the 2nd XI are in Division 11.

Following our first application to join the County League in the late 80's, we took on board the positive criticisms that the League made in respect of our square. This resulted in a new square being laid in 1991 and first played on in 1993. The ground and facilities at Great Houghton are owned by Great Houghton Parish Council. Great Houghton CC has a new 15 year renewable lease with the Parish Council which takes us to July 2011. A brand new village hall and sports facility was opened in January 2004.
