The company grew rapidly during the 1990s and 2000s, from 150 franchised salons in 1988 to 1000 by 1997[1] and 2500 by 2006.[2]
Great Clips, Inc., headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and established in 1982, is the largest brand in the haircare industry. Today, there are over 2,650 salons in North America. In 2008, Entrepreneur Magazine ranked Great Clips as the #1 haircare brand and #19 on the Franchise 500 list.
Great Clips salons serve men, women, and children - with the majority of their clientele being men. Located in shopping centers throughout the U.S. and Canada, they pride themselves on providing excellent hair services efficiently and endeavor to have adequate staff on-hand to serve customers without long waits. For this reason, no appointments are necessary although they are recommended for perms and elaborate styles. Customer satisfaction (products and services) is guaranteed, which causes Great Clips owners to offer only top-notch products and take extra care to use only professional, licensed stylists that are provided advanced training.
