[edit] Screenshots
Hi Grandmasterka! I have a question. I've downloaded a screenshot from a video game. Am I allowed to add this screenshot to my User page? Please leave a message on my talk page. Thanks. D@rk K 15:12, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. And how can I make my discussion page colorful? D@rk K 12:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for the welcome back! Good to feel missed. It's a little unclear right now how much free time I'll have to push around the mop again, but getting in a little is better than none, I suppose. I was wondering about how many of the people I knew were still around - glad you're here. Tijuana Brass 00:50, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image Issues
Hi. Thanks for CSDing Image:TeaG.jpg. The user who uploaded that image uploaded as many as two dozen similar images that he claimed copyright right for despite their being images from an anime series, that are higher resolution images, that he didn't put fair use rationales on. From his contrib history, it looks like he decided he didn't like the images in the infoboxes of a ton of Yu-Gi-Oh articles, so he uploaded a bunch of new ones and replaced them in a ton of articles. I CSDed a few more of the images, and the rest I tagged for lack of a fair use rationale because I began wondering if CSD was appropriate. I may have missed some, though. I went through quite a few pages on images and copyrights, but I couldn't find any guides for this kind of situation. Now, I'm wondering if I followed the correct action, or if something else should have been done when dealing with such a mass of images? Collectonian 01:23, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 50 Beowulf page deletion
Hello,
I am a military officer who contributed greatly to the original "50 Beowulf" wikipedia page under the name "Reginhild". All of my work was deleted - the reason given - that it was copyright under the www.50beowulf.com forum. All the updates I did to wikipedia I also posted to 50beowulf.com forums and I do not consider "copyright material" but open public discussion on a forum. If anyone has a copy of the deleted page they will see that it is my posts under "Reginhild" at 50beowulf.com that likely caused someone to yell "copyright violation" while never checking with me or to see that the same named person "Reginhild" made the modifications to the original 50 Beowulf wiki page.
I went through the same trouble with another wiki page where I posted info on a forum and had it reversed.
Please bring back the old page so I don't have to spend hours upon hours duplicating my work that was sabotaged by someone yelling "copyright violation" based on my forum posts.
You can also check with Lars Hogblum the owner of the www.50beowulf.com forum that I am the contibutor to his site and here as well. I even started a "50 Beowulf Wikipedia Page" thread at his forum to help improve the wiki page - since many familiar with the 50 Beowulf cartidge post at the forum. Now all our work - as discussed at 50beowulf.com - to improve the wiki page has been destroyed. (likely by an anti-gun fanatic)
Thanks, Reginhild

[edit] Manuel Antonio Sanclemente
Hello Linden. I am Masterpiece2000. I noticed that you speak Spanish and also translated lots of articles from Spanish Wikipedia. I want to find a person who understands Spanish. I think you are that person.
I created the biography of Manuel Antonio Sanclemente, former President of Colombia, on 2007/11/22. The biography is very short. Here is the biography in Spanish[1]. Can you please translate some important points and expand the biography? Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 06:48, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 08:18, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

- Ok, Linden! But please do something about it. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 02:41, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

- I'm asking because I've seen on other articles (concerning future dates) some anniversary dates :). I thought it doesn't break WP:POV rule. Lothar25 (talk) 23:29, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ArbCom Elections
Hi. I had a look at your revised vote, and it's probably fine. It's two sentences, and they're kind of long-ish, but it's a clear two sentences, so I doubt it will be moved. If you add more to it, however, it could be. Thanks for voting, ZZ Claims ~ Evidence 04:58, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fonts
Dear Ka (or is it Kaa?):
I noticed your comments on PNT about the Telugu fonts. I was just wondering if you could advise me of the procedure for installing new fonts. I think it would be very useful to a lot of people who don't know what to do when they see a lot of shipping crates all over the page. Probably should be part of a template that could be added to all pages that contain foreign fonts. I first thought of this while working on articles related to Arabic, where there is not only the foreign font issue, but also the problem of transliteration, where not all of the characters show up. Thanks. Cbdorsett (talk) 05:22, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Richard W. Halsey
On 09:34, 20 January 2007, you deleted a page entitled Richard W. Halsey. I was wondering if there was a way you could tell me what IP address had created that page? Thanks, --Ye Olde Luke (talk) 23:58, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- That IP was me, making an edit from my high school. I want to find the high school's IP, and see what edits my fellow San Pasqualians have made. See how we as a school rank on a 'quality edits' scale. :) --Ye Olde Luke (talk) 07:39, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A request for your consideration regarding CAT:AOTR
Hello fellow Wikipedia administrators open to recall category member! |
---|
I am leaving you this message because recent events have given me concern. When Aaron Brenneman and I, and others, first developed this category well over a year ago, we visualized it as a simple idea. A low hassle, low bureaucracy process. We also visualized it as a process that people would come to trust, in fact as a way of increasing trust in those admins who chose to subscribe to the notion of recall. The very informal approach to who is qualified to recall, what happens during it, and the process in general were all part of that approach. But recent events have suggested that this low structure approach may not be entirely effective. More than one of the recent recalls we have seen have been marred by controversy around what was going to happen, and when. Worse, they were marred by some folk having the perception, rightly or wrongly, that the admin being recalled was trying to change the rules, avoid the process, or in other ways somehow go back on their word. This is bad. It's bad for you the admin, bad for the trust in the process, and bad for the community as a whole. I think a way to address this issue is to increase the predictability of the process in advance. I have tried to do that for myself. In my User:Lar/Accountability page, I have given pretty concrete definitions of the criteria for recall, and of the choices I can make, and of the process for the petition, and of the process for other choices I might make (the modified RfC or the RfAr). I think it would be very helpful if other admins who have voluntarily made themselves subject to recall went to similar detail. It is not necessary to adopt the exact same conditions, steps, criteria, etc. It's just helpful to have SOME. Those are mine, fashion yours as you see fit, I would not be so presumptuous as to say mine are right for you. In fact I urge you not to just adopt mine, as I do change them from time to time without notice, but instead develop your own. You are very welcome to start with mine if you so wish, though. But do something. If you have not already, I urge you to make your process more concrete, now, while there is no pressure and you can think clearly about what you want. Do it now rather than later, during a recall when folk may not react well to perceived changes in process or commitment. Further, I suggest that after you document your process, that you give a reference to it for the benefit of other admins who may want to see what others have done. List it in this table as a resource for the benefit of all. If you use someone else's by reference rather than copy, I suggest you might want to do as Cacharoth did, and give a link to a specific version. Do you have to do these things? Not at all. These are suggestions from me, and me alone, and are entirely up to you to embrace or ignore. I just think that doing this now, thinking now, documenting now, will save you trouble later, if you should for whatever reason happen to be recalled. I apologise if this message seems impersonal, but with over 130 members in the category, leaving a personal message for each of you might not have been feasible, and I feel this is important enough to violate social norms a bit. I hope that's OK. Thanks for your time and consideration, and best wishes. Larry Pieniazek NOTE: You are receiving this message because you are listed in the Wikipedia administrators open to recall category. This is a voluntary category, and you should not be in it if you do not want to be. If you did not list yourself, you may want to review the change records to determine who added you, and ask them why they added you. |
...My guinea pigs and the "A"s through "F"s having felt this message was OK to go forward with (or at least not complained bitterly to me about it :) ), today it's the turn of the "G"s, and "H"s! I'm hoping that more of you chaps/chapettes will point to their own criteria instead of mine :)... it's flattering but a bit scary! :) Also, you may want to check back to the table periodically, someone later than you in the alphabet may have come up with a nifty new idea. ++Lar: t/c 20:53, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Happy New Year
[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka 3
Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was definitely a dramatic debate, that landed on WP:100! I paid close attention to everything that was said, and, where possible, I will try to incorporate the (constructive) criticism towards being a better administrator. I'm taking things slowly for now, partially because of the holidays and all the off-wiki distractions. :) I'm also working my way through the Wikipedia:New admin school and double-checking the relevant policies, and will gradually phase into the use of the new tools. My main goals are to help out with various backlogs, but I also fully intend to keep on writing articles, as there are several more that I definitely want to get to WP:FA status! Thanks again, and have a great new year, --Elonka 18:00, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please whitelist article URL
I tried to add the following URL as a source cited for an article I'm working on (Big Chocolate), but apparently suite101.com is spam-blacklisted on Wikipedia. http://internationaltrade. suite101.com /article.cfm/top_cocoa_bean_processors Would you be able to whitelist this URL? Thanks, Robert K S (talk) 18:12, 9 January 2008 (UTC) [ETA: had to insert spaces in URL to bypass spam filter)
[edit] Arcangel
A translation request for the Spanish Wikipedia article Arcángel (Austin Santos) has been made, and I began to investigate when I found that you had deleted the article.
Is this to suggest that I should not translate the artlcle? Or merely that I should attempt to assert the notability, which you cited the lack of in your explanation of the deletion? - Robert Skyhawk (Talk) 23:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Whitelist
Hi - I see you have added a site here. Particularly as there is no request on the talk page could you please log the request. That way if there are any queries about it the information will be freely available. In 6 or 12 months time the "history" of the page will not be a good way of finding the info - thanks --Herby talk thyme 08:04, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Shadowbot3 and archiving?
You blocked Shadowbot3 as its owner has left and you claim it was misbehaving. I was previously using Werdnabot until its owner left. Do you know any active archiving bots with similar behavior to these two blocked bots? —dgiestc 22:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nevermind, going to try out MiszaBot III and HBC Archive Indexerbot. —dgiestc 22:44, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Franco-Mongol alliance
I have filed a request for arbitration where you are named as a party. Please feel free to make a statement. Jehochman Talk 15:16, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yay, my first arbitration case! Though I don't know why I should be a party. Grandmasterka 15:49, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have removed your name from the request. It was a misunderstanding on my part. Feel free to participate. Maybe you can help us solve the problem, or you can remove your statement. If you leave your statement, you would technically still be involved, though I don't see anybody complaining about you in any way. Jehochman Talk 15:51, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
