[edit] Revert bot's work?
You may have thought that my talk pages was vandalized, but it wasn't. That was an archive bot doing his job... Thanks anyway...≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 01:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

- Everyone... The bot was removing sections without archiving, see Shadow1's comment on Wikipedia:Bot requests. I rolled back all the bot's edits. Grandmasterka 01:25, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
- Are you sure you did all of them, because I just did about 50 more (hopefully I did the right ones). Also, I've done the ones that couldn't be rolled back because ShadowBot had done 2 consecutive edits to the page. I reverted to last good revision. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 01:40, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unblocking a bot
Hello there! I've seen that you have blocked my bot, Tuonela because it was unapproved. That was absolutely correct, of course. But now the bot has been approved for trial (see here) so I felt like contacting you to have the block removed. I hope it's okay for me to leave a message in your talk page, since I can't use the e-mail feature. Thanks in advance :) Teo64x 16:26, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] User:Mojothemofo
Hi... Mofo is an abbreviation for motherfucker, and so prima facie profanity. Cheers. --Rrburke(talk) 19:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm well aware of that... "Prima facie" profanity doesn't count with me, and "mofo" has a much better connotation than "motherfucker". Grandmasterka 19:14, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I follow: prima facie, as a rough synonym for self-evident, is used to refer to evidence that is sufficient, if not rebutted, to prove a particular proposition or fact. How could prima facie or self-evident profanity not count? Moreover, notwithstanding its connotations, if abbreviations of the denotation motherfucker don't qualify as profanity, I'm not sure what's left that would. Cheers. --Rrburke(talk) 19:36, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- Okay... Well, it is not necessarily "self-evident", and connotations matter. Mofo is often used as an affectionate term and is not, in itself, profanity. And "abbreviations" are subjective. Should we block any username with "mf" in it? Grandmasterka 19:44, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- By the same token, a number of friends of mine use a well-known racial epithet as a term of endearment, but I'm certain if they tried to place the word in their username, it would get tossed in a heartbeat. And it is self-evident that mofo is an abbreviation for motherfucker, isn't it? How is that subjective? Does it ever mean anything else? -- unlike mf, by contrast, which could be someone's initials, or at any rate is not a blatant violation, which is what WP:UAA is reserved for. Anyway, I'm not trying to make this into a whole big thing, it just surprised me that an abbreviation for motherfucker wouldn't be considered profanity when anything with "poop" gets yanked right away. --Rrburke(talk) 19:59, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SHA-1
While looking at the category for Wikipedians with committed identities, I realized that you are using a SHA-1 hash. While SHA1 hashes are relatively secure, it is possible for them to be hacked. I advise that you try a SHA-512 hash. A calculator for SHA512 can be found here,[[1]]. While not required, this would further add to the seecurity of your account. Thank you for keeping Wikipedia safe. Remember to use a strong password!! - Hairchrm 02:48, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] COI Templates.
Hi, I'm sending you a message because of your involvement with the Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_May_18#Template:COI_and_Template:COI2 discussion. The result of the TfD was no-consensus, but there was a significant expressed consensus for editing the templates to bring them into line with good practice. Unfortunately this has not happened, and the templates have been left pretty much in the state they were before the TfD. Would you like to assist in bringing these templates in line with good practice? --Barberio 16:41, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

re. deletion of Ann Boddington page. You seem to have deleted it believing it was a memorial page. In fact, Ann Boddington was an important and well known person in Scarborough, Ontario. With the establishment of a scholastic prize in her name, I believe it is important for the various future recipients of the prize to be able to learn something about the person whose prize they are getting.
I admit that the first posting of the page is drawn heavily from a funerary tribute, but that is just the material I had on hand. I have asked others to flesh out the story based on their own knowledge of Ann's accomplishments.
I request that you reconsider the deletion and let Ann's many admirers put together a more complete biography of a truly remarkable woman.
[edit] White Dragon (England) pages
I saw your report on WP:ANI about the above referenced article. Though not highly tech savvy, I took some time to see if I could figure it out. I think I've solved it; and I entered it into the protected titles list. (You can see the solution when you look at the section in edit mode.)
Thanks for reverting the mess. — ERcheck (talk) 11:43, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Ann Boddington
re.Ann Boddington - the article I submitted earlier today is not a copyright violation. It does not use anything that is not public information and it does not duplicate, or even rely on, the death notice. Nor is it a memorial. It is the first stab at a more detailed biography of an important local figure.
I'm sorry that I didn't accumulate all the relevant data myself before starting the article, but I thought the way Wikipedia operated was collaborative in nature. I keep alerting people to start filling in the details and you keep deleting the article before they can.
FYI: Ann was well known in scholarly circles, musical circles and political circles - and not just in Scarborough.
Please put the article back and stop assuming that you know who is important and who is not. :)
Your reply indicates you didn't even look at the article I posted. You described it as a death notice when it was written in the style used by other biographers. It started with her birth and moved chronologically through her life (more or less - subject to the constraints of staying on topic in each paragraph) ending with her death and the establishment of a prize in her name.
Again, I request that you put the article back up so her other admirers can add to it.
Thanks. I've put out the word again so it should be fleshed out quite a bit over the next week.

[edit] You are testing my patience !!!
Why do you delete the image while I am preparing the copy-right statement? This is not the way one deals with others! --BF 17:30, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but this is the worst possible answer one could expect: you delete without knowing what you are deleting! (Please forgive me, but I have simply lost my composure, being insulted twice for one and the same image.) I have no time to waste: this will become the third time that I will have uploaded the same image!!! --BF 17:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ColScott
Hi. Can you give me a link to the discussion that you referenced in your edit summary at User:ColScott? (I don't question or care about him being banned ... but I think having that message there is an unnecessary provocation. We would be best served with a live + let live relationship with him.) --BigDT 18:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
