From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greetings, wikipedia mavens.

My name is Paul. I have been a resident of the state of Colorado, USA, since 1961. My initial interest in Wikipedia revolves around the local history and geography of the state of Colorado, and specifically my home town, Boulder.

I welcome your comments.

[edit] Boulder

Thanks for you help in trying to get the Boulder article under control. The strange political/self-bashing nature of it has been gradually getting out of hand over the past year or so. I think it will continue to be a problem, especially given the nature of politics in Boulder. I think it's also important to battle the bloat in general, as people keep adding unimportant events and trivial details (like the nude pumpkin run or the cost of every newspaper) for some reason. --Junky 21:42, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] British vs. American terms

Regarding your 20:04 1-1-2007 editto Denver International Airport, please be aware that we need to use the naming conventions of the topic being discussed. Your subject said that you were changing the wording to be consistant with British usage. However, Denver -- and DIA -- are in the US. Hence, British usage is incorrect. You need American usage.

An editer has already reverted the mentioned edit. Frankly, I have lived in America all my life and I can't say that whether "paved area" or "pavement" would be more correct. However, the subject of your edit was enough for me to bring this up. Will (Talk - contribs) 05:48, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

I would say no. However, you should probably consult with the person that reverted your edit. If you do switch it back, rather than saying you are using "British" terminology, try stating that you are using "clearer" terminology. Will (Talk - contribs) 21:59, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fifth Down

I reverted this edit to Fifth Down as I think the subsequent fallout and controversy over the Orange Bowl is important to the fallout and aftermath of Fifth Down. I also removed a line that you added stating "No team with two losses has won the NC" (paraphrase) and then cited a source that was a copy of another Wikipedia article. Cite another Wikipedia article (even if it's copied elsewhere) isn't a valid source, and there was some questions over this during the peer review and GA nomination review. If you are going to add cites, please copy the style used in the rest of the article. I do think you are trying to improve the article, so keep up your efforts. Thank you. --MECUtalk 15:25, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

You apparently haven't looked at my userpage. I'm a Colorado fan, so any bias I have for tarnishing their championship to favor GT doesn't fly. All your objections on my talk page didn't address the one critical one I mentioned above: The aftermath of the Fifth Down included a tainted NC, for which completeness of that subject (the tainted NC) requires the mention of this clipping call. The other subjective factors you've mentioned aren't relevant. I won't undo my revert of the sentence, and if you choose to remove it, I would prefer to go through some dispute resolution process that you and I would agree to; even an informal one. --MECUtalk 13:50, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Charlie Johnson

Hello, Paul. What do you think of this: Let's rename the Charlie Johnson (Colts football) article to Charlie Johnson (offensive tackle) and rename the Charlie Johnson (Eagles and Vikings football) article to Charlie Johnson (nose tackle) to comply with the Wikipedia naming conventions. Naming teams and colleges in article names does not comply with the current naming conventions. Let me know. Manningmbd 19:08, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Project

Hey, I am also a wikipedian in Boulder, and I am wondering if you would like to start a wiki project. --Jimbo Herndan 18:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OK

Allright then. I see what you are saying. But there is one thing that I would ask you to do. Could you rearange the list of shops in 29th Street in to a table? thanks. --Jimbo Herndan 03:12, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Todd Bertuzzi talk page

The first of Wikipedia's five pillars states: Wikipedia is not the place to insert personal opinions, experiences, or arguments. Wikipedia's official guideline on talk pages states: Talk pages are not for general conversation. Keep discussions on the topic of how to improve the associated article. Irrelevant discussions are subject to removal. Therefore, I have removed your personal opinions from the Todd Bertuzzi talk page. --Muéro(talk/c) 18:17, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of List of ambiguous patriotic songs

An editor has nominated List of ambiguous patriotic songs, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of ambiguous patriotic songs and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. [edit] Need your help

You may be interested in these edits by an editor who seems to be on a mission to rewrite secularity, secularism, and the disambiguation page for "secularity" in order to conflate the two terms. Since you did such a good job demystifying this conflation earlier I figured you should know. See [1], [2], [3], [4]. Some of your wisdom might be of use here since, as I said, you have done such good work on these entries.PelleSmith 16:45, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] No content in Category:Handel's Messiah

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Handel's Messiah, by CenturionZ 1 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Handel's Messiah has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Handel's Messiah, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:00, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hello again

I havent talked to you in quite a while, so, hi again. Anyway, I was wondering of what you thought of the City of Denver template I have been working on. Add content if you wish. I will be working on it from time to time. --Jimbo Herndan 07:50, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
