[edit] Your recent article creation

Please do not create inappropriate articles. See Wikipedia:List of bad article ideas, Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and WP:COI. You may also want to read the Wikipedia userpage guidelines. Michaelbusch 23:55, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

I have recently nominated the articles you created Graeme Davis (mediaevalist), Apollonius Institute of Language and Linguistics, Journal of Language and Linguistics, Journal of Language and Learning, and Journal of Language and Literature for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia policy against self-promotion. Please comment on the article's AfD page. --SteveMcCluskey 21:41, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Complaining about Wikipedia

Go to WP:AN/I and post a summary of the problem there; this will notify the Wikipedia admins of the problem. Be sure to come back periodically to check for replies as they'll reply on the same page. If that doesn't solve the problem and it's causing serious problems, go to WP:RFO and follow the instructions there; you'll need to email the address given at the bottom of the page with the url of the page in question and what the problem is - iridescenti (talk to me!) 16:44, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citing references

To add citations to a Wikipedia page, type <ref>, go to Wikipedia:Citation_templates and copy-and-paste the relevant one (generally {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} or {{cite book}}), and follow it with </ref>. Fill in the relevant bits of the blank form you've just pasted into your document (you don't have to fill in all the fields). At the bottom of the document, type ==References==, and on the next line type <references/>. Hope that made sense; if it didn't, there's a fuller explanation at WP:CITE.

As long as you've made the effort to add references, don't worry too much about doing it exactly right; as long as the references are there, someone will come along after you and tidy it up if need be. iridescenti (talk to me!) 21:29, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:BasrahLogo.jpg

Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BasrahLogo.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. [edit] Speedy deletion of Sir James Baird, 2nd Baronet

A tag has been placed on Sir James Baird, 2nd Baronet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Sir James Baird, 2nd Baronet

I'm sorry to inform you that an article which you created, Sir James Baird, 2nd Baronet, was recently deleted. When reviewing whether an article is appropriate for Wikipedia, administrators follow certain guidelines based upon things such as encyclopedic notability, the ability to verify accurate information, and conflicts of interest. Your article didn't match one or more of these criteria, and as such, it was erased.

Please don't let this discourage you from taking part in Wikipedia — nearly every editor here has had contributions removed at one time or another. If you're new and would like some help on getting used to the encyclopedia, there's some useful resources at Wikipedia:Introduction and Wikipedia:New contributors' help page.

Thanks for your understanding. Tijuana Brass (talk) 05:11, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

The deletion rationale that it was tagged for was A7 on the criteria for speedy deletion; in short, that it didn't appear to meet notability. After initially reading through it, I had this impression as well, since the content at the time focused mostly on his family ties and the unfamiliar (to me) title of baronet.
But, you make a case for his notability on my talk page, so I'm glad to restore the article. It'd be a good idea for you to include some material to clarify his importance and nobility so it'll be obvious for others who might stumble across it. I assume you were planning on expanding the article to include this anyway, but sometimes it's best to start with that material, since RC patrollers occasionally tag otherwise legit articles which are incomplete, unaware that they're still being developed.
Thanks for the note. Tijuana Brass (talk) 23:12, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Channings.JPG

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Channings.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 14:45, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
