I have also edited this page by adding more suitable information to this topic as I thought that this much info is not sufficient for this topic. I hope that Wikipedia would like my changes and make it permanent in the topic. The article contains this line: "Grassland habitats appeared on Earth some 70 or 80 million years ago, following the extinctions of the dinosaurs." This timeline does not jibe with the established one, cited over at Cretaceous–Tertiary_extinction_event. While dinosaur species went extinct throughout the Mesozoic, they weren't all gone until at least c. 65.5 mya (not counting birds). I'm not sure which, if either, version is correct: 70-80 mya, or post-K–T—but surely someone does? —vivacissamamente 14:59, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

It certainly is a mess now. Looks like a lot of copy/paste. Too bad. Probably it should go back to a stub -- remove all that unsourced mess -- and start over. --Mattisse 00:53, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Indeed, as most of the added material appears to have been copyright violations. A google search shows Destruction of grasslands was lifted from Destruction of Drylands, Preserving dry grasslands from Preserving Dryland Ecosystems, and Benefits of Drylands from Benefits of Drylands. Yes, well done. Thank you for being bold. I was starting to wonder what to do about this poor old article. I've always been mystified by the amount of vandalism it attracts. What is it about grassland? Naturenet | Talk 08:57, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
How much vandalism does it take to make this page eligible for protection? There's an awful lot of it, sometimes several instances per day, and it isn't as if anyone has been making much in the way of positive changes to it (with some exceptions). Kralizec's text deletion was a big improvement - apart from copyright violation the text taken out wasn't very relevant anyway and was inappropriate for the article.--Graminophile 17:01, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Excessive Citation Tags

I know that this page needs a lot of work, and that there are plenty of unsourced statements that need citation. However, I must add that as a reader of this page, I am highly annoyed by the excessive use of the citation tag. Perhaps those of you who feel a compulsion to slap a "citation needed" tag every fifteen words could apply some of that energy to improving the page.
