[edit] Reference to Neil Peart
I added the reference to Neil Peart (drummer and lyricist from the Canadian rock band Rush) because he made an in depth analysis from Grace on his third non-fictional book, Tavelling Music, on page 181. -- MarceloNunesPOA
[edit] Eternal Life - Nick Drake connection?
I can't imagine how the song Eternal Life can be considered "Nick Drake-influenced". Eternal Life is among the loudest, most "heavy metal" songs Jeff ever did, and Nick Drake's soft, lovely, melancholy songs seem like its antithesis. I can believe that Jeff admired Nick, but I don't see any influence in Eternal Life. Can anyone shed some light on this?
[edit] RE: Eternal Life
Jeff openly stated a love for Led Zeppelin, and i would say that they provided the primary influence for Eternal Life. There is nothing in any of Drakes back catalogue that sounds anything like Eternal Life, and this inclusion of that statement in the article must surely be a typo? Something like Lover you should have come over shows a Drake influence, i'd say a little similar to some things on Bryter Later. If you've heard any of the later live verions of Eternal Life Jeff did, even more abrasive and even sporting a guitar solo from him sometimes, i think you;d reconsider the Drake statement.
[edit] Eternal Life - Nick Drake connection reply
My thoughts on confusion involving the mention of a Nick Drake-Eternal life connection are as follows:
The songs Eternal Life was an angry song, written by Jeff about the yuppies, the idea to strive for that cubicle, let's get that raise, lets buy the ikea furnished lifestyle (I'm not sure ikea was around in 94 though).
Now let's look at a Nick Drake tune, and rather than compare the sound, let's compare the lyrics. Lyrics are a large part of the battle in the art that we call music:
a few lines from Parasite by Nick Drake:
"Lifting the mask from from a local clown Feeling down like him Seeing the light in a station bar And travelling far in sin Sailing downstairs to the northern line Watching the shine of the shoes And hearing the trial of the people there Who's to care if they lose. And take a look you may see me on the ground For I am the parasite of this town."
taken from http://www.algonet.se/~iguana/DRAKE/NDpink.html#KNOW
Sounds to me that he feels like the outcast of the town. Everyone's too busy with their shiney shoes chasing those jobs, rushing for the next train.
I'm no expert on Nick Drake, but I'm sure he must have some other songs out there with the same message. So, if the connection between eternal life and Nick Drake was not a typo, that is probably the connection. Any comments, e-mail me at Lazy_trash@hotmail.com
[edit] Opening Paragraph
Maybe it's just me, but the opening paragraph (including the references to Coldplay especially) comes across as really disjointed and awkward. Perhaps a re-write is in order from someone who can join it all together more fluently? 86.3.202.61 17:20, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Good Point. I'd give it a go- G.AC, 13:40, 19 July 2006
[edit] Forget Her
Any reason this song isn't on the track list? Ericatom 22:51, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
Simple: Because it wasn't on the Tracklist, on the album release in August 1994.I see that it was added for the 2004 release. G.AC 18:02, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Merge Suggestion
I've added a merge suggestion since i can't see any reason for an extra page with minimal extra information for the rerelease. It could be easily merged into this article with the extra tracklisting being added below current one and other cover and information being added to bottom of infobox as mentioned here. --Thetriangleguy 19:10, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Song Presentation
It took some time and a few brain cells, but I've done song infoboxes for the ten Grace songs. Only problem is, I could do with someone helping to put 'Song' instead of single, for the templates of non-Single songs, and a few minor mistakes that need fixing; Being not to savvy at the html of it all, and having gone through various mind-numbing twists and turns to get the boxes going, I'm topo burned out to finish it off at the present. Should no one be able to do so, I'll get back round to it later. G.AC 15:26, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, I sorted it all out, save for the small matter of which I don't understand how to fix as of now: the 'link' to each of the songs repeats its title twice for the non-singles. I'll probably figure it out, as I did the rest of the stuff, later but I just wanted to throw it out there.
I'm really liking the Grace songs' look, as it seemed pretty disjointed before, and now feel s a lot more cohesive witht he song infoboxes I placed. Not trying to give myself Kudos, just loving that I could help improve the Album's look. G.AC 20:58, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ethnic instrument in Dream Brother
I'm trying to figure out what the non-Western instrument in the intro to Dream Brother is. It's not listed under the "personnel" section. To my inexperienced ear it sounds like a koto, but I could be wrong. Could someone who knows what it is please enter it into the article? --Henre (talk) 14:51, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
