[edit] Story
The game is a basic 2 Dimensional fighting game, using sprites. This being said, there is little to no plot. The opening intro shows Luffy running across varies locations seen in the anime, as well as large pixelart of most of the crew using their attacks, and ends with Luffy and Crocodile leaping in the air and attacking hitting each other at the same time as the screen goes white.
The actual story mode, starts you out with 6 playable Straw Hats. The beginning of the game, is mostly the Straw Hats bickering with each other and end up fighting. Mid point in the game, the story takes a break as you fight Kung-Fu Dugongs in a mini-game.
The rest of the game from then on focuses on the characters from the Baroque Works Saga. Determind on who you play as will result on who you have to fight, such as Zoro fight Mr. 1, and Sanji fighting Mr. 2, Bon Clay. But all the characters end up fighting either Crocodile or Luffy, depending on which alliance they are on.
[edit] Gameplay
The game play is very similar to most of the Anime branded games that Dimp's was making at the time, especially for the Wonderswan and Game Boy. You can perform moves by pressing the A button, and B jumps. You can perform combo's with the A button, as well as use a with dashing and jumping. To perform specials you can press A and B at the same time, as well as do taunts by letting the character stand still for a few seconds. Each character has 3 taunts, a normal, an energy regaining, and a special power-up.
Specials in the game are activated by the character doing a move, if hit the it will go in a in game cuscene. Most of these are two screens of large pixel art familiar from the show. It is usually one of their biggest moves in the anime at the time, of if the character was never really touched upon it is a n Game only attack.
Tony Tony Chopper, as in most One Piece games has a Rumble Ball gimmick. He starts out with very week, and a very small moveset. After preforming his Power-Up taunt, he will consume a Rumble Ball, and for a small period of time he will have a full moveset, and a damage producing special.
