Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud is a Group 1 flat horse race in France for four-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 2,400 metres (approximately 1 mile and 4 furlongs) at Saint-Cloud Racecourse in late June or early July.
It was first run in 1904 as the Prix du Président de la République at Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse, where it remained until 1914, and was re-named as the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in 1941. Prior to 1987 the race distance was 2,500 metres (1 mile 4½ furlongs).
Three-year-olds were also eligible to participate before 2005, since when the race has been restricted to older horses only.
