Grand Canal Dock railway station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Grand Canal Dock railway station (Irish: Stáisiún Duga na Canálach Móire) serves the Grand Canal Dock area in Dublin, Ireland. Like several stations in central Dublin, it is elevated above street level, with steps leading down to Barrow Street, near Google's European headquarters. The station has three platforms. Platforms 1 and 2 are accessed by a footbridge and platform 3 has level access. Platform 1 does not have overhead electric cables and has a permanent sign reading "Do not board any trains at platform 1".
This station was opened in 2001 and was Dublin's newest until Docklands Station opened in March 2007.
Grand Canal Dock is built on the site of the former locomotive shed at Canal Street and across from the engineering works (closed 1925) of the Dublin & Kingstown Railway [1834].
