The Grammar of Modern Standard Hindi is controlled by the Central Hindi Directorate of the Union Government of India, which is important because Standard Hindi (also called High Hindi) is the first official language of India at the Federal level. The grammar is based upon Hindustani grammar and is identical to it in all respects except those regarding the formation of Sanskrit loanwords.
