[edit] Career

[edit] Playing

Westley started his career as an apprentice with Queens Park Rangers. He joined Gillingham in March 1986.[1] He made two league appearances for the club before joining Barnet.[2] He later played for a number of non-league clubs, including Wycombe Wanderers, Kingstonian, Wealdstone, Farnborough Town, Harlow Town, Enfield, Aylesbury United, Harrow Borough, Tooting & Mitcham United, Molesey and Walton & Hersham.[3]

[edit] Managerial

In 1999 he bought a controlling interest in Farnborough Town and made himself manager.[3] [4] He left the club to take over at Stevenage Borough in January 2003. During his 3 and a half year stint at Stevenage, he saved them from certain relegation from the football conference and turned round fortunes to take them to within one game of the football league in the conference play-off final.[5] He confirmed in May 2006 he would leave the club when his contract expired in June.[6] He was appointed manager of Rushden and Diamonds in December 2006, helping the club to get out of a fight against relegation. He managed 13 games winning 7 drawing 3 and losing 3.[7] but was sacked in February 2007 due to his conduct and behaviour away from the pitch.[8]Shortly after leaving Rushden & Diamonds he was appointed caretaker manager of Kettering Town for the rest of the 2006–07 season in April 2007.[9] He returned as Stevenage manager in May 2008 much to the surprise of fans and others alike.[10]
