Grafton High School is a secondary school located in Grafton, Wisconsin. It is part of the Grafton School District. It provides students with a wide range of educational opportunities, including core subjects, technology education, physical education, and the fine arts. It is the only public high school in Grafton, and has a student population of around 800.

Grafton High School participates in the North Shore Conference. They have had tremendous success in Division 2 athletics in the state of Wisconsin. The Grafton Girls swimming team were state runner-up in 2003 and state Champions in 2004 and 2005, while taking third in 2006. The Grafton soccer program is consistently ranked in the top five in the state of Wisconsin and finished runner-up in 2006 for boys. They have also made state appearances in 1993, 1998, 1999 and 2000, finishing second three times. The girls soccer team won a state championship in 1997 and has also made state appearances in 2003 and 2004. The football team has won state Championships in 1981 and 1982. The Grafton track team is highly regarded as the best program in Division 2. They won state in 2000 and took second in 1999 and 2004. They participated in the Penn Relays on the PENN University track in 2005 finishing first in their heat in the 4x800 and taking 13th overall. They left the relays being ranked in the top 25 nationally. In 2006, the boys soccer team were runners up in the state soccer tournament losing to Xavier High School in the final minutes of the game. In 2007, the girls basketball team won their first state championship ever, beating New London in a remarkable comeback of scoring 13 points in the last 3 minutes of the game, and winning in overtime. Prior to 2007, the girls basketball made appearances at state in 1991 and 1993.

Grafton High School has been regarded as one of the best schools in Wisconsin. In Jay Matthews' Challenge Index, GHS is consistantly ranked as one of the top schools in Wisconsin and the country. In 2005 GHS ranked 461st in the country, making it 3rd in the state and 1st in Ozaukee county.[1] In 2006 GHS ranked 559th in the country, making it 5th in the state.[2]

[edit] Teacher of the Year

In 2006, industrial technology teacher Carl Hader was named Wisconsin High School Teacher of the year. As automotive instructor, he has guided GHS students to first place finishes in several state and national auto repair competitions.
