Grace Christian High School

Grace Christian High School (Traditional Chinese 繁體字:菲律賓基督教靈惠中學/ Simplified Chinese 简体字:菲律滨基督教灵惠中学)is a Born Again Christian School primarily catering to Chinese Filipino students from Pre-Nursery to K-12. It is situated in Grace Village, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Its current principal is Doctor James L. Tan.

The school was founded July 5, 1950 at Nagtahan St. in San Miguel, Manila by Baptist missionaries Dr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Spahr and educator Mrs. Julia L. Tan. The school moved to its current location at Grace Village as the number of student grew. The campus at the current location was inaugurated on August 2, 1966.

The school has an administration building, a four-story high school wing, a three-story elementary building, a kindergarten complex, and various related educational facilities. The school uses the Grace Christian Church’s facility, with a seating capacity of 1,500, for its religious assemblies. The school is being renovated in preparation for the college.

In June 2008 the school plans to open the new Grace Christian College (Traditional Chinese 繁體字:菲律賓基督教靈會學院 / Simplified Chinese 简体字:菲律浜基督教灵惠学院). The plan of having a college started over 20 years ago with one of the school’s founder Mrs. Julia L. Tan. The college plans to offer the following courses:

  • B.S. Accountancy
  • B.S. Business Administration
  • B.S. Electronics and Communications Engineering
  • B.S. Information Technology
  • B Secondary Education

  • To teach the Bible as God's inspired Word and to develop attitudes of love and respect toward it.
  • To integrate academic excellence with spiritual truths to produce wholesome and mature personalities in their homes, their church, their communities, and their country.
  • To train students to recognize and practice the Lordship of Christ in Life and learning in order for them to live a Christ-centered life.
  • To provide biblically sound, Christ-honoring high academic standards and to help the student realize his full academic potentials uniquely created by God.
  • To evangelize the Filipino-Chinese parents and community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through education of their children and enhancement of their cultural heritage.

[edit] Saturday Activities for High School

The school implies a mandatory Saturday class rule to high school students. These are called Saturday Activities, which affect students' final grades. Usually the only exceptions are members of the Glee Club and Varsity sports players. Everyone has to go to school, as attendance is strict. Students with deficiencies from the previous year will be sent to "Special Bible" Class, which is class for students under probation. They also attend regular Physical Education class.

Exemptions in PE are also given to some classes such as the Chinese Orchestra, Western orchestra, or the robotics team.

Some of the more recognized activities are : The Glee Club , Chinese Orchestra , Western Orchestra and the Grace Christian Service Scouts.

Other students prefer to attend the Math classes during Saturdays like the MTAP MTG and the Basket Garden Club that was created in 2004. The students receive their Sat. Act. grades from these classes.
