Grønland is a place in central Oslo, Norway. It is served by several tram and bus lines, as well as the Oslo T-bane (subway) at the Grønland subway station.
Through the last 20 years Grønland has developed into a multicultural melting pot. In the Grønland area you will find stores carrying goods from all over the world, as well as mosques, bars, restaurants and streets full of all people from all over the world. The majority of immigrants are from Pakistan and the place is also known as little Pakistan. In the recent time Grønland has become very trendy and popular with continuously rising pricing on apartments. Grønland is now one of the most up and coming parts of the city, especially with the coming new borough of Bjørvika and the new Opera nearby. In a recent survey Grønland has been chosen as one of the best places to live in.[citation needed]
Grønland is situated on the east side of Akerselva only 5-10 minutes walking distance from the central station and downtown Oslo. Grønland stretches from Grünerløkka down to the ocean by the middelalderparken beach area.
If you are appalled by the price of beer in other parts of Oslo you'll be glad to know that it's much cheaper in Grønland, typically about 55 to 60 per cent of the price of central Oslo bars.
