[edit] Re:Counter Strike: Source editing

I'm one of the good guys, I was reverting the vandalism. :) BJTalk 07:14, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Heh, you already removed it. BJTalk 07:14, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Creating an AfD page for an already-deleted article

Hey, just to let you know, if an article has already been through the Articles for Deletion process once, as with Associated Students of the University of Arizona, you need to create a separate page for any new AfDs, not create the nomination on the same page. This can be easily done with the {{afdx}} template. I've fixed that problem, but this is just to let you know for future deletions. NeoChaosX (talk, walk) 00:40, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and the new AfD can be found here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Associated Students of the University of Arizona (2nd nomination). NeoChaosX (talk, walk) 00:44, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reverting My Edits of the George Schultz Biography

You reverted my formatting of the birth date of George Schultz, claiming that "Wikipedia standards indicate that the birthdate should have been listed as "December 13", not "13 December."". Two things here: First of all, I was removing his birthplace from his date of birth string, which IS making it conform to Wikipedia standards. Reverting it back was a mistake for that reason. Secondly, the appearance of the date string, if it is "wikified", depends solely on how a user sets his preferences. That is the actual "Wikipedia standard". Another mistake you have made is to lecture me on standards about which you know less than you think. Please familiarize yourself with the information here and here before reverting other people's hard work.

Which brings me to another point. On your user page, you claim that "Gpohara patrols the high seas during Operation Enduring Encyclopedia against the intellectual terrorism of unregistered vandals!". I also noticed that you have made several hundred contributions since you first arrived here on December 31, 2006, 4 days ago. I further noticed that this talk page contains numerous reversions by automated bots, claiming vandalism on your part. I've looked at the diffs, and some of them do look suspicious. It could be just sloppiness, but only you really know...

When contributing to Wikipedia, may I suggest that you concentrate less on quantity and more on quality in the future?

[edit] Added link to Air Force Pararescue

Added blog website link to this article. I viewed their request on this article's talk page - blog is unique to this article and it certainly adds value to readers. Being members of this group, they can assert expertise and thus WP:RS. I'm not affiliated with this website and wanted to give you a heads up because you had removed it when they attempted to add to this article on their own. Thanks! [edit] Shooting The Messenger

In reference to my criticism of your reversion of my date editing, you wrote:

Arguments tend to be much weaker when you attack the person rather than the actions.

You will notice that at no time did I "attack" you as a person. I only criticised your actions. Further, I provided links for you to educate yourself, in hopes that you would not make the same mistakes again.

You wrote:

You need only say that I committed a mistake and move on with it.

That would not be as constructive as providing the materials you need to educate yourself a little more before you pass yourself off as an expert again.

Then you wrote:

I was hoping to get a compliment for at least being willing to fight vandals in probably >98% of my edits, but I suppose I'm just being naive.

If you want a compliment for the >98% of the edits you made, I suggest you ask them for one. I can only speak from my personal experience with you. And yes, you probably are being naive.

Reverting vandalism is a noble and necessary task, but probably unrewarding compared to making original contributions. May I suggest you apply some of the fruits of your education in political science to Wikipedia? 67.70.161.164 05:31, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Dear Gpohara,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that I'm sorry, but your recent edits have been reverted by bots that fight vandalism. It would seem imporper to me, at best, to give Vandal-fighting tools to someone in such a situation.. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Cheers, ✎ Peter M Dodge ( Talk to MeNeutrality Project ) 21:35, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spelling of your name

Hi, someone on the Raul Grijalva page has changed your name from Garrett to Garret. However, both the Daily Star and the Daily Wildcat articles call you Garrett, with two Ts. I'm not asking for original research, but I'd like to know if I need to hunt further for the correct spelling of your name, or if the two cited sources are correct. Thanks! --Kynn 04:15, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
