Gowri Shankar .V is a prominent Kollywood comedian and five time Filmfare Award winner.Gowri, who began his career as a child actor in a few films in the 1950s, made his film debut as a leading comedian with the blockbuster Karakaatakaaran (1970), which earned him two awards for Best Comedian and Best Debut at the Filmfare ceremony, as well as numerous other awards. This he achieved after quitting a successful career in a top notch software firm. Critics had pinned him not to quit a successful job. But he replied with his award winning performances. During his career, he was praised for his performances in films like Veetla Eli Veliya Puli (1980), Alaigal Oivadhillai (1982) and Thatha Sollai Tattathae (1989), being his biggest commercial successes so far, and winning him many Best Actor awards each.
