Gowkthrapple (Wishaw)

Gowkthrapple is a deprived area of the town of Wishaw near Glasgow in Scotland. It often receives bad publicity for its problems with drugs, alcohol and low educational achievement.

There has recently been a period of development within Gowkthrapple co-ordinated by North Lanarkshire Council. Due to this several blocks of flats and a tower of flats were demolished in early 2007. The building work for new houses has not yet started.
