[edit] Map Problem

The primary focus of this article are the governorates of Egypt. While the map you are pushing is a decent quality, there are several problems with it. First, you are attempting to push the map to a size that is way too big for the article and too foreboding to the article content, and Second, you are also pushing a map that does not define the governorates of Egypt (rather, only the capital cities of Egypt). This map would be more suited for a capital cities of Egypt article or article on Egyptian cities. So please understand - your approach is good, however, you have chosen an improper map for this article. The numbered map corresponds to two things - the fact that it IS a map of the Egyptian governorates and the fact that the numbers correspond to the numbers listed in the wiki table below the map, with a list of the governorates and corresponding information. Do you understand this now? Rarelibra 14:44, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

I am subsequently removing the map from this article and placing it on the List of Egyptian cities and List of cities in Egypt articles, where it is more applicable. Rarelibra 14:51, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Please see your talk page. You clearly do not understand the reasons for my modifications. Do you understand this now? --Lanternix 16:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
My response on your talk page. Maybe you will understand more now. Rarelibra 17:22, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
The problem is not with me understanding. I hope YOU understand more now. --Lanternix 17:59, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Whatever. Rarelibra 18:09, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Wow! Excellent argument! --Lanternix 18:11, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
If it is an "argument" you are looking for, look in the mirror. By stating such, you are obviously negative (or closed) minded and only approach this as a "win-lose" or "argument". I thought this WAS a discussion about the article. Oh well. Rarelibra 18:13, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
It certainly WAS, until you began screaming right and left, and saying things then contradicting yourself, just because being the last person who makes a change in the page makes you feel better about yourself. I can't care less for the size of the map, but any change that restores my points of objection, which I have listed on your talk page, will be reverted. --Lanternix 18:21, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Be careful with your words, you are borderline on personal attacks - and I will have you blocked if you continue such. If you continue to mess with the article and make incoherent changes, I will continue to change it back to what are correct edits. If you look carefully in the history, you were the one confused - introducing an incorrect map, then increasing the size, attempting to remove the other map which was correct (whether you made it or not) and then moving it all around the article in very incorrect locations. You started the personal attacks - cease now before it gets serious for you. Rarelibra 18:24, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Please go ahead. Your many threats and insults will be certainly included in the case. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. A respectful discussion generates a similar one, but don't expect less than insults once you insult another person. As for the confusion, it was all yours, and it was indeed you who were moving things around in a random manner. --Lanternix 18:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
By the way, it's kind of funny how scared you are by what I write on your talk page. You remove it right away. I'm curious as to why you begin an agressive and rude discussion if you cannot continue it to the end?! --Lanternix 18:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
I enjoy your juvenile accusations. Scared? I'm afraid not much scares me, boy. I think you probably don't understand what fear is - I doubt you've ever seen combat. My conversation was started to correct you incessive actions. Period. Now grow up and stop your attempts at sabre-rattling. Rarelibra 18:52, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Too bad you didn't learn much from combat. Regardless what your conversation was aimed at, it was and continues to be rude and impolite. I may "grow up" per your words once I feel I am talking to a grown-up, not a kid. --Lanternix 19:01, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry that you feel so inept and have such a low self-esteem as to continue to attempt to offer up accusations and insults. It reflects as to the type of person you are, really. Too bad. Just stop playing with the image size. Rarelibra 20:21, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
Seriously, what's wrong with you and that image size? I can't care less. Why does this keep haunting you? Relax dude, I will change what I want to change when I want to change it. I don't take orders from you, so you can save yourself the efforts of telling me what to do and what not to do. --Lanternix 04:01, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
You will listen to an admin when you get reported for your continued nuisance. Rarelibra 11:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Try, and only blame yourself when the admin bans you. --Lanternix 14:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Guys, you both have violated 3RR. I am not going to block anyone because it won't solve your dispute but i hope you stop edit warring for a while until you reach a consensus. As per my say re this edit warring, i'd say it is WP:LAME. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 16:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the latest edit by FayssalF, since it keeps the map above the table, thus preventing the table from being squeezed between the map and the Politics of Egypt column. The latest edit also avoids having way too much empty blank space within the article. Any map size is fine by me, as long as the above two things are avoided. Thanks. --Lanternix 17:16, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
This setting is fine (though I have a feeling only because it was not from me)... Lanternix, please just keep in mind that many wiki users may not have the resolution you have - and this must be taken into consideration when setting map size. Not that I'm an expert, though I know a thing or two about maps, resolution, etc. Thanks for throwing in the white flag. Now let's you and I both get back to positive contributions. Rarelibra 17:51, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your understanding Rarelibra. I agree with the latest change because it makes sense and avoids the problems I talked about, and NOT because it came from someone other than you. Conecrning screen resolutions, I already mentioned to you that I have 3 different computers with 3 different resolutions, and the previous problem persisted with all three of them. Looking forward to dealing with you in more positive situations, and I apologize concerning the last couple of days. --Lanternix 18:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks guys for your understandings. I should also tahnk you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Happy editing. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 05:05, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cairo area

There is an inconsistency between the map and the table. In the table Cairo Governorate has an area of 214 sq.km but on the map it seems bigger than Qalyubia (1001 sq.km). --Nk 08:09, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Cairo official site claimes 3435.3 square kilometers [1] Bogomolov.PL 13:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Aswan also seems to be too small... --Nk 13:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Governorates in Egypt

As announced in today's Egyptian newspapers (18 April 2008), the boundaries of some governorates have just been modified, and both Cairo and Giza governorates have been split to create two new (additional) governorates, called "6 October" and "Helwan".

This article should be updated accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.57.191.19 (talk) 17:35, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Can you find an english-language source for this? Also, was the split merely announced, or did it take place? --Golbez (talk) 18:20, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Found a source, though it doesn't specify if the split was just announced or has already taken place. --Golbez (talk) 16:53, 19 April 2008 (UTC)
