[edit] Project Assessment

I am ecstatic to find that the Wikipedia article on this subject seems (upon admittedly quite cursory examination) to reflect such an accurate picture of the complex events of this period. All too often we are presented with stereotypical or superficial versions of the story which make it sound as if a fully-formed, fully functional government sprang up overnight in 1868 and saw little to no change since then. I am sure, of course, that this article could use expansion, as most articles could, but we are off to much better than a good start with this. Two suggestions: (1) Check into the macrons. Should Ito Hirobumi be Itō Hirobumi? Should other names be macronned? (2) A section discussing the role of Satsuma & Choshu in government, and maybe their growing or falling degree of influence, concerns among others over the disproportionate power wielded by these groups, etc... Thank you very much for an excellent account! LordAmeth 23:27, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
