- February 5, 2008: Prospero Nograles of Davao City's 1st district is elected as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives after Jose de Venecia lose a vote of no confidence to leave the speakership vacant. [1] [2]
- November 29, 2007: Mutinous soldiers led by Senator Antonio Trillanes, who had barricaded themselves in a luxury hotel, surrender after the Armed Forces of the Philippines begin an assault.
- November 13, 2007: An explosion occurred at the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City killing three people including Congressman Wahab Akbar of Basilan. [4]

- December 18, 2006: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will visit Europe early next month before traveling to the Philippines to attend an Asean summit, a government spokesman said Monday.[6]
- December 17, 2006: The beleaguered Arroyo administration of the Philippines found an ally as Malaysia on Sunday urged Southeast Asia leaders, as well as partner countries China and Japan, to attend the postponed summit now rescheduled for January in Cebu, Philippines.[7]
