The Government News Network (commonly abbreviated GNN) is a UK Government press and public relations agency based in each of the nine English Government regions as well as in sub offices in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Plymouth. It is one part of the Central Office of Information which focuses on Government departmental and agency issues in the United Kingdom such as transport, local government, heritage, health & safety and a multitude of other areas. The organisation was set up in 1946 to aid communication between government departments and the press and public as well as to manage government-media relations.
