Government Engineering College Ajmer (popularly known as ECA) is one of the premier engineering institutes of India located in the holy city of Ajmer surrounded by Aravalli Hills. It was established in 1997 as an autonomous institution under Govt. of Rajasthan. Initially the college was affiliated to University of Rajasthan, now it has affiliation to the Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. ECA is located at Badliya Chouraha N.H.8, Ajmer, barely 5 Kilometers from Ajmer on the National Highway no 14, providing the right industrial ambience for the budding engineers and scientists of the country. The college provides bachelors and masters degrees in engineering and management and currently has six branches of engineering with a total of approx 450 seats in various faculties. MBA and MCA courses have also commenced since 2006. From its inception in 1997 till 2003, the principal of the college was Dr. Raisinghani. The reins of the college are currently in the hands of highly qualified Dr.S.G.Modani.

The faculty is highly qualified and proficient in their fields. Most of the faculty members are permanent professors, readers and lectureres while a few act as guest faculty. There is a healthy faculty-student ratio and high levels of interaction are maintained between the faculty and the students. The professors are also involved in research activities and encourage students to take up innovative challenges in emerging trends and technologies.

The students of ECA come from varied backgrounds, cultures, regions of the country. They are young bright talents who get groomed and nurtured at their cherished institution. The college encourages and provides ample oppurtunities to the students in diverse spheres such as extra-curriculur events, sports, dramatics and so on. The competitive and resourceful environment provided at the college prompts students to perform to the best of their abilities. Students of ECA have bagged top ranks in the university examinations year after year. Emphasis is also given on research-oriented methodology and students have come out with a lot of innovative ideas in varied sciences and applied engineering. The laurels brought by the students would definitely encourage coming generations to excel by setting up a highly competitive environment in the college.

The college supports excellent infrastructure in the form of laboratories, highly-equipped research facilities, latest electronic & electrical instruments, computer center, sports complex and modern architecture of classrooms with ACs and LCDs. Regular bus facility for distant parts of the city is available.

The library of ECA is enriched with books on varied subjects and international & natiaonal journals on science, engineering, management, humanities, literature and the like. The total volume of books and journals exceeds one lakh. The library boasts of exhaustive collection of academic text-books, peer-reviewed papers, and research material.

The alumni of ECA have made a mark in all spheres of life and have reached the top echeleons of the corporate sector. While many of the alumni have joined top public-sector organizations such as NTPC,HAL, BARC, ISRO, DRDO, BHEL, ONGC, IOCL, MTNL, BSNL etc, others have made their mark in top-notch multinationals such as Cisco, Microsoft, ORACLE, IBM, HP, Accenture, TI, Samsung etc. The top few have also made their way to Civil Services and Indian Engineering Services. Higher studies such as MBA, MTech and PhD from elite institutions of India and MS from prestigious international institutions have also been the target of some of the alumni.
