Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad

Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad is the premier technical institute of Marathwada region that contributes to a complete technical and cultural education of the region. It is affiliated to the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University and was established in the year 1960. The construction of the college was started in 1957 and was completed in the year 1960. Later on many new addition were made which includes the new extension building which presently houses the Electronics and telecommunication Dept, Computer Science Engineering Dept and the Information Technology Department. A new classroom block which will house the First Year classroom and IT department is under construction.
the college offers six courses in the engineering field. these are: - 1. Civil Engineering 2. Electrical engineering 3. mechanical Engineering 4. electronics and Telecommunication 5. Computer Science Engineering 6. Information Technology
In addition to this it also gives the Master in Computer Application Course.
The admission to the college comes under the Directorate in Technical Education. the DTE holds the all MAharashtra level MH-CET exam, which is compulsory examination to take for the admission. There are no payment seats in this college and all seats are on merit basis in the said examination. 50% of the seat are reserved for backward classes.
Recently the college has become autonomous and the first year has already taken the autonomous examination. The college has also got the prestigious TEQIP(technical Education Quality Improvement Programme) grant. It every year holds many national level and state level competitions round the year. recently it had held the prestigious national level IT festival Sporadica 007.
The college has been doing placements of students in eminent companies and the total number has crossed 250 for the year 2006-07. many placements for this year has also been completed. In addition it hold Phd facility, research facilities, part time M.E. and many other courses.
The college is 2 km away from the railway station, 3 km from the central bus stand and 9 km from the airport.
