OUR COLLEGE

Government college of Engineering, Tirunelveli, a constituent college of Anna University, is one of the premier institutions in Tamil Nadu quenching the intellectual thirst of the ever learning, electric youth of our country. In its 25 years of existence it has left no stones unturned for producing not just sound engineers but technopreneurs endowed with exceptional quality of acuity, attitude and ardor. High spirits radiating in prominent organizations in the global arena prove the credentials of the college making our institute distinguished in the academic hierarchy. The college spread on an area of 23 hectares possesses excellent infrastructure and well trained faculty to make the students dynamic. The institute offering more than what it promises it shouldn't be amusing to find our students academically acclimated, professionally promising and invariably innovative.

The institute offers five undergraduate and three postgraduate programmes. Our curriculum is of high standard structured by Anna University to meet the modern industrial needs.

LIBRARY The Library of our college located in a sprawling building is a plethora of information helping the students to get their knowledge enriched. Collection of over 40,000 selected titles. Collection of Compact Disks on various fields. Maintains about 75 journals monthly. Collection of many engineering documents such as government publications & technical reports. Each department has its own library enriched with titles of recent innovations. Two book banks, one with a collection of 6500 exclusively for SC/ST students and another, a general book bank.

ACHIEVEMENTS

Our college for the second successive time has secured seventh position in the rank list of 229 colleges released by Anna University after the announcement of semester results

ISTE STUDENTS• CHAPTER

ISTE students¶ chapter was incepted in the year 1994. The chapter arranges lectures, seminars, computer courses and conducts quiz events inviting connoisseurs. Personality Development Programmes Entrepreneurship Programmes GATE Preparation Tests

LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY A literary and debating society has taken shape under the auspices of the Department of English & Humanities. NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) NSS was started with an aim to create awareness among the student community. There are four wings for NSS each working for the betterment of our society. Blood camps, first aid awareness program, Guest lectures on health, cleanliness are conducted periodically.

HOSTELS Students from all over the country form the integral part of our institution and hence nearly 900 students are provided residential accommodation. Three hostels cater to the needs of male students and female students are accommodated in two hostels. All the hostels are spacious and are commissioned with modern facilities to provide conducive environment for learning, a central gymnasium and a stadium for indoor and outdoor games.

CHEMISTRY The department has well equipped laboratory in the field of analytical and applied chemistry and forms an integral part of our first year curriculum. Some of the research equipments available are
