From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Governor of the Oregon Territory was the title of the Chief Executive of the Oregon Territory. From 1845 to 1848, the title referred to the head of the Provisional Territorial Government. After official U.S. territory status in 1848, the title was used for the chief executive appointed by the U.S. President. The office was abolished upon the admission of the state of Oregon into the Union in 1859. The state governor's office replaced this office.
