About the Fischer vs. Karpov Gothic Chess Match
GothicEnthusiast 18:06, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
As of December 16, 2006, the Fischer vs. Kaprov Gothic Chess match had not been cancelled. The most recent communication from Gardar Sverrisson, a close personal friend of Bobby Fischer's, was that the non-stop fight with the USB bank regarding the unauthorized transfer of $3,000,000+ of Fischer's was taking a "...great deal of time and energy..." Fischer also made the request to "observe" another match prior to the one he agreed to play with Karpov. See this hidden [1] link for the signed contract.
Re: Popularity Claims
Dear Just to clarify
Your content does not ADD to the quality of information on the Gothic Chess page. It does nothing to contribute to the Wikipedia page in accordance with any of the standards. You do nothing but post internet hearsay to this discussion page. In fact, by your own admission, your name is a sock puppet, and you hide behind the anonymity of the internet, for whatever reason.
I HAVE spoken to Ed Trice directly regarding this matter. He tells me nobody else has contacted him regarding this matter. Therefore, your information is less credible, as I have contacted the person involved.
Since we diagree, I am hereby requesting you comply with the model for [Resolving Disputes]
I will not yet ask a Wikipedia Administrator to get involved.

Step 1: Talking to the other party involved
I am hereby letting Just to clarify know that the Gothic Chess Federation is currently undergoing a Business Merger, and his comments, though purely speculative and without basis, may be detrimental to this process, currently in the final Due Diligence stages. This page is watched very closely by our new potential business partners.
As per the outline, we are now at [Step 1.] I am requesting the following questions to be answered with a "yes" or a "no".
1. Have you contacted Ed Trice regarding the incident you claim he posted something to another discussion board? 2. Are you intending to deliberately negatively impact the image of the Gothic Chess Federation, a for profit company? 3. If the answer to #2 above is "no", will you cease and desist your postings, as the company president is requesting that I ask you to do so?
Please respond.

- To answer your questions
-
- 1. Have you contacted Ed Trice regarding the incident you claim he posted something to another discussion board?
- No I have not.
-
- 2. Are you intending to deliberately negatively impact the image of the Gothic Chess Federation, a for profit company?
- There is no Wikipedia policy in place against criticizing a company, as long as the criticisms are verifiable.
-
- 3. If the answer to #2 above is "no", will you cease and desist your postings, as the company president is requesting that I ask you to do so?
- I must decline this request. I have a right to free speech and pointing out these already public postings does not overstep the narrow limits on free speech that are a part of Wikipedia policy and the laws of Wikipedia's (or, for that matter, my) jurisdiction.
- The issue is a simple one. I have made a posting to a Wikipedia talk page. You have repeatably tried to delete this posting. This goes against the guidelines in WP:TALK, since the post in question is not one that WP:TALK allows another editor to delete or "refactor". Just to clarify 07:17, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
As you have not followed my simple request for answers to 3 simple "yes/no" questions, I have filed for a Mediation Request. Your right to "free speech" does not give you carte blanche license to have a friend post something to a discussion board somewhere, pretending to be Ed Trice, then cite this as Gospel Truth for the rest of time eternal.
You say what you want to say, and that makes it wrong. You know nothing about Gothic Chess, the company, the inventor, and the game. Your posts do nothing constructive. They will be dealt with appropriately.

GothicEnthusiast 07:49, 15 July 2007 (UTC) Furthermore, you mentioned a web page at the chessgames.com website. I see nobody there claiming to be Ed Trice. But there is a very illuminating post there that singlehandedly discredits many of your counter-claims about Bartel Hall--
-
- Earlier this week I called a number listed for Bartel Hall in Kansas City. I was transferred 4 times before I spoke with someone who sounded like they knew what they were talking about. They could find no listing for the Gothic Chess Federation. They could find no chess events requiring assistance of their in house staff to plan for the construction of 62 temporary exhibition "booths". But, after a further search, the woman did find one event where the exact same number of exhibiters were there. There were 62 separate local tax forms collected, implying their were 62 exhibitors, for one event held there in 2003. I asked who the exhibors were, but she said she could not give out that information. I said 'ok' but could she tell me anything about the exhibitors? One company sold a product for acne. Another was a well known tutoring company. Another sold skateboards/t-shirts/and stuff for teens. Another sold iPods. Many sold video games. A few sold food. And, in the minority, but still present, were a few selling chess equipment. So, what was the business that paid for everything, the space, the reservations, the planning of it all? It was simply listed as "GCA". Might this be Gothic Chess Association, the name it was originally known as? If so, no wonder you can't find anything, especially if you are satisfied if the thing you are looking for can't be found.
There was a "third party" who actually called the bluff of the nay-sayers and got somewhere. You forget, the organization was originally known as the Gothic Chess Association.
Now, given that the simpler explanations are usually correct, what is more likely?
A. A company in existence since 1998 in the chess business has never had a tournament? B. All of your "internet detectives" were searching for the wrong name?
