[edit] Samples
The song is noted for its use of lyrics from Alabama 3's "Woke Up This Morning", better known as the theme song of The Sopranos. The song also samples rap duo Eric B. & Rakim's song "As The Rhyme Goes On", which Rakim says "I'm the R the A to the K-I-M / If I wasn't, then why would I say I am", which Nas says at the start of verse 2 "I'm the N the A to the S-I-R / If I wasn't, I must've been Escobar".

Its video features Nas in a church confessional and the video also pays respect to The Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac, by re-enacting the moment 2Pac and Biggie got shot, with photos turning real, and Nas acting as them. Though the lyrics is mostly about himself and his history since his first album was released, and says that he is crowned the best lyricist.
