Coordinates: Gossaigaon is one of the small towns of Assam, India. This is a sub-divisional head quarter of Kokrajhar District (BTAD). This is almost cosmopolitan in nature both in terms of diverse group of people and religions. This place is well connected by Ground transportation and rail roads, hence is a good business place. It has a small river (Madati) flowing through, forest areas with important economical plants like Shorea robusta (Sal), Tectona grandis (Teak) etc. Nearby Mornai Tea Estate is also important. Many people from this small town and its neighboring villages are higher officials of India and abroad. This place is mainly practicing organic farming, also modern agriculture following recent scientific developments. It has college with Arts, Science and commerce streams, and various schools such as Gossaigaon Boys Higer Secondary, Shastri Vidyapith, Bishuram, St. Anthonys, Sankardev Sishu Niketan, etc.

Gossaigaon has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 68%. In Gossaigaon, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
