[edit] Birth date/place

Does anyone know when and where Gordon was born? Could not find anything on his website or anywhere else... well, wrote him an email. Maybe someone answers? FAThomssen 16:59, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Arrangements

Does anyone know of a source with a list of arrangments as done by Goodwin? ShirtNinja101 22:23 April 19, 2006 (UTC)

You get it from his website: http://www.gordongoodwin.com/charts.html FAThomssen 16:56, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Incredibles?

What did he actually do with this film? I can't figure it out.

Gordon orchestrated the "Incredits," the end credit music for the film. --SingCal 07:08, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

I talked to Gordon about this. He and band members also played in the orchestra and he arranged a lot more than just the end credits music. Most of the jazz orchestration was done by him. 218.214.81.37 14:30, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... fascinating, but I'm not sure whether or not it violates WP's original research policy; we'll have to check. SingCal 15:33, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Phat Band

I would love for the Big Phat Band to have their own article. I think there is ample material to constitute one, does anyone have any objections? Satchfan 02:14, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Not at all, I think it's a great idea as long as you can find enough material (something I was never able to do). I'll help in any way I can! --SingCal 20:10, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone know what awards the big phat band has been nominated for? I believe Hunting Wabbits was nominated for best instrumental jazz or similar? Satchfan 10:39, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

I found XXL... the album was nominated for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, Hunting Wabbits nominated for Best Instrumental Composition and Comes Love was nominated for Best Instrumental Arrangement with Vocals. Let's see what else we can find... SingCal 04:56, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Weasel Words

A constant pet peeve of mine. I got rid of the sentences about criticism of Goodwin's music because they were full of weasel words. Whoever contributed them, please cite sources and/or instances if you attempt to post them again. --SingCal 20:09, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Weasel words? How come only positive comments about Gordon's writing are allowed on this page? Where are your sources for him being this highly respected Jazz writer and musician. Gordon's music is NOT of educational value in terms of learning, studying the music and it's tradition because it lacks in sort of blues feeling.

Alright, now there are no comments either way. Every piece of information in the article is either a fact or an assertion based on fact. Any addition of views on his music should be thoruoughly backed up with credible sources or I'll delete it as an NPOV/WW violation. SingCal 16:28, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

You left one thing out. You kept up "his music has become increasingly popular for high school/college jazz ensembles". There is no source to back that up, so it has been deleted as an NPOV/WW violation. Follow your own rules please :-).
