Gorosaurus (ゴロザウルス Gorozaurusu?) is a fictional theropod dinosaur created by Toho Studios. He stands 35 meters (105 feet) tall and weighs 80 tons in his first appearance. He was an opponent of King Kong in the 1967 film King Kong Escapes. He later enjoyed a prominent role in the 1969 Destroy All Monsters, in which his size was increased to match Godzilla's 50 meter stature. Gorosaurus is a typical giant dinosaur-type monster, having no special powers like beams or energy weapons, relying on his strength and powerful "kangaroo kick" to fight.
[edit] Origin
In King Kong Escapes, Gorosaurus was a dinosaur living in Mondo Island. He attacked and attempted to devour Susan Watson. King Kong soon appeared to save her and fought Gorosaurus. Gorosaurus was a formidable opponent due to his powerful "kangaroo kick" pushing Kong back. However, Kong snapped the dinosaur's jaws (a reference to 1933's King Kong), defeating Gorosaurus conclusively.
In Destroy All Monsters, Gorosaurus appeared on Monsterland (a.k.a. Monster Island), an artificially created environment for the daikaiju of Earth. Considering his fate at the end of King Kong Escapes, as well as his increased size and different-sounding roar, it seems fair to speculate that this is a different Gorosaurus altogether, or that he has been irradiated. He lived with other monsters including Kumonga, Minilla, Varan, and Manda. But all was not well, as a race of aliens called Kilaaks invaded the planet. They captured and mind-controlled the monsters, releasing them in cities throughout the world. Gorosaurus was released in Paris, France, where he attacked and destroyed the city. However, the humans retaliated and broke the mind control. The aliens were not finished, and used King Ghidorah to attack the Earth monsters, who were now being controlled by the humans. Gorosaurus played a pivotal role in the battle, as he twice brought down King Ghidorah (the only monster who was able to), the first by pulling on his necks until he fell, heralding the turn of the tide of battle to the Earth monsters's side, and second when he used his kangaroo kick to slam Ghidorah to the ground as Godzilla and Anguirus attacked two of the heads, leaving Ghidorah helpless and vulnerable. Then Gorosaurus and the other monsters successfully destroyed the space monster once and for all. After the fight, Gorosaurus and the other monsters were returned to Monster Island where they lived in peace to this day. Gorosaurus later appeared in All Monsters Attack in Ichiro's dream. Then, in 1972, Gorosaurus was featured on Monster Island.

Gorosaurus also appeared in the 6th episode of Go! Godman named Godman vs. Gorosaurus (1972).
