Gorman is an Irish surname and is the reduced Anglicized form of the Gaelic Mac Gormáin and Ó Gormáin ‘son (or descendant) of Gormán’. The name is derived from the diminutive of the Gaelic word 'gorm' meaning ‘dark blue’, ‘noble’.[1]
