Gorenje is a major domestic appliance manufacturer based in Velenje, Slovenia. From its beginnings in the 1950s, the Gorenje Group has grown to a joint-stock holding company encompassing together 47 integrated enterprises, 33 of them outside Slovenia. It is one of Slovenia’s largest industrial corporations, as well as one of the leading manufacturers of domestic appliances in Europe. It currently employs around 9,500 employees, down from over 20,000 in the 1970s. Household appliances comprise almost 80% of its income, the rest being divided between interior furnishing, heating and equipment, services and energy and environment divisions.

It was launched in the UK in 2002 and now retails in around 1,000 stockists in the country.

In 2005 Gorenje took over Czech manufacturer Mora Moravia a.s.

In 2006 Gorenje came third in Europe in the Advance Environmental study.
