Gordon Mursell

(Alfred) Gordon Mursell is the current Suffragan Bishop of Stafford [1]. He was born on 4 May 1949 and educated at Ardingly College and Brasenose College, Oxford[2].Ordained in 1974 he began his career with a Curacy at St Mary Walton, Liverpool [3] and was then successively Vicar of St John, East Dulwich, a Tutor at Wells Theological College, Team Rector of Stafford (1991-1999), Provost (1991-3) and then Dean of Birmingham Cathedral (1993-1999) [4] before ascending to the Episcopate[5] as the Suffragfan Bishop of Stafford - a post he currently holds. A prolific author,[6] he is also a keen hill walker[7]
