Gordon David Savage

Gordon David Savage[1] was an Anglican Bishop who served in two posts[2] between 1960 and 1970. Born on 14 April 1915 he was educated at Reading School and St Catherine's College, Oxford and ordained in 1940[3] after an earlier career as a Librarian. His first post was as Chaplain, Lecturer and Tutor at Tyndale Hall, Bristol after which he was successively General Secretary of the Church Mission Society , Vicar of Marston, Oxford[4] and Archdeacon of Buckingham before elevation to the eponymous Suffragan Bishopric. After four years he was translated to Southwell where he remained until retirement[5]. He died on 9 June 1990
