Gordon Beet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gordon Beet (May 5, 1939 – January 19, 1994) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a slow left-arm bowler. Beet's grandfather, George Beet snr. and uncle George Beet jnr. also played first-class cricket.
Beet started representing Derbyshire in the Minor Counties Championship in 1955, and made his debut first-class appearance a year later. He failed to make an impression with the team and was dropped as a choice in the first team. Though he made one appearance in 1958, this was a relatively inauspicious draw and he didn't play again until 1961.
Though Derbyshire were once again to hold their own in the championship in that season, Beet was discarded from the first team after just two County Championship games and one University Match. He was to never play first-class cricket again.
