Gor Mkhitarian was born in 1973 in Vanadzor, Armenia.

He made his debut solo album a folk record, in 2001's award-winning Yeraz.
In 2004 he released Godfather Tom, again a winning collection of folk-rock that made a full band driven by Mkhitarian's work.
