GoogleTap [1] is the byproduct of PHP-Nuke that uses PHP and modrewrite (Apache) to turn dynamic links into static-like URLs. This technique permits the ability to see shorter URLs, allows for greater search engine accessibility, and with the newest version shows titles inline URL.
Many versions exist today that cater to various content management systems, and they each deliver similar functionality.
